Human Design shows what happens on the energetic level when we come together. The activations in one chart bring forth activations in the other. You can lay the chart over one another and find where they match, where they are different and where they complement each other. All of these interactions are their own experience. Whether we are attracted to someone is not based purely on which interactions happen between us and the other, but on what kind of interactions we need at that point in our life.
Someone who has a very different design from ours is going to bring dynamic energy. When we are with them, things are going to be activated that are not usually there. We feel ourselves expand; we access parts of ourselves that we are not used to. We are received by other in a way that we cannot necessarily relate to directly. Through all these dynamics, we see ourselves from a new perspective. This can be beautiful and exciting, as well as very challenging.
Connecting with someone who has a design that is similar to us can be a more grounding experience. We can feel confirmation of our way of being. We can harmonise with them and find new depths of what it means to be who we are. This can be relaxing and opening, but it can also create intense conflict when similar energies don’t harmonise and compete to get things their way. Other times it can even be boring when we follow the same lines of thought and action as we always have.
These are just two stereotypically described potential energy dynamics. Every design is unique, and therefore every connection is unique. We benefit from different kinds of connections at different times in our life.
If I could give an ideal, I would say that a combination of difference and similarity will give an interesting dynamic, while also allowing for common ground to come home to together. But this is certainly not the only good way of connecting and also not a guarantee for success.
When it comes down to it, we are more than just our design. So our design can give great insight into How we connect, but it cannot tell us how we Should connect.
